Bari Gruppe, a German hotel operator, has taken up a lease on an office building to be converted into a hotel with the Kroonenberg Groep, one of the main players in office, residential and commercial real estate in the Netherlands.
Situated in the south of Amsterdam, close to the "Zuidas" business district, the "RAI" convention centre and the Schiphol international airport, the building will accommodate, after its conversion, a 4-star hotel.
The hotel, which is scheduled to open at the end of 2015, will include around 160 rooms equipped for short or long stays, a fitness room, bar, restaurant with outside terrace and two flexible meeting rooms.
The hotel will be run by Bari Gruppe under the Element brand through a franchise agreement with the Starwood Hotels & Resorts group. It will be the second Element hotel in Europe, the first one having opened in Frankfurt last August.
For this project, the teams of BNP Paribas Real Estate Hotels France and BNP Paribas Real Estate Netherlands accompanied Kroonenberg Groep for a detailed feasibility study and the operator selection process.
"This project has attracted great interest among hotel operators, showing that the City of Amsterdam has become a major target for international chains. This is explained by the highly diversified tourism demand and the sustained level of operating performances. The teams of BNP Paribas Real Estate have been able to assist the client both with their in-depth knowledge of the local market and their experience in the hotel sector in order to offer the best adapted solutions to the client’s specific needs", explains Maaike Smorenburg, Deputy Director at BNP Paribas Real Estate Hotels – Valuation & Consulting.
